Internship Program
The Asian American Cultural Center Internship Program provides students an opportunity to undertake creative and challenging assignments that provide a greater understanding of Student Affairs and the Asian American community.
Interns will work on programs that promote a pan-Asian American identity and unity through educational, social, and cultural programs provided to students and members of the University and Champaign-Urbana communities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain a schedule of 10-15 hours of work per week.
- Participate in a weekly seminar on Asian American issues.
- Assist with front desk reception duties.
- Each intern will be assigned one of the following duties:
Office Intern: Assist in managing the daily operations of the facility
Programming Intern: Assist with programming and liaison work with RSOs
Outreach Intern: Assist with outreach beyond campus
Communication Intern: Assist with electronic newsletter, advertising and other communication responsibilities
Administrative Intern: Assist with research and administrative projects
Qualifications
- Student eligible for Federal Work Study are preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to Asian American issues
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and independently with a high degree of initiative
Application Procedure
- Include a letter of interest, indicating your current academic interests and career goals, description of your leadership experience in the Asian American community, and rank the order of the intern positions for which you would like to apply (office, programming, outreach, communication, or administrative intern).
- Include a resume and contact information for three references.
