Leadership Center – General
Description
This position serves as a member of the Illinois Leadership Center. The Leadership Center provides leadership retreats and services for students, oversees a leadership certificate program, houses a leadership resource library, coordinates leadership consulting programs for student groups, and provides student employment and internship opportunities. It reports to the Vice Provost and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
Possible Duties
- Serve as a member of the Leadership Center staff, participating in staff meetings, advancing the strategic plan of the Center, and assisting with other projects and duties as needed.
- Serve as program coordinator for the Leadership Certificate program.
- Coordinate i-programs including logistical planning and preparation.
- Work with student organizations on various workshops and consulting programs.
- Plan collaborative programs with various academic and student affairs departments.
- Assist with Outreach and Marketing efforts of the Illinois Leadership programs and services.
- Create and conduct workshops for registered student organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working Relationship
The graduate student employee will report to Sara Thompson, Acting Director of the Illinois Leadership Center, and will serve as a member of the Illinois Leadership staff.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required. An ideal candidate would have been a student involved in co-curricular activities as an undergraduate and would possess these skills and/or experiences: comfortable in an advising role and meeting one-on-one with students, interacting with faculty and staff, supervising student workers and interns, excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience with program planning.
