Expectations of Chapter Presidents

2007-2008
Presented at Allerton President's Retreat

  1. Annual Allerton Retreat: Ashley and Lisa expect that chapter presidents attend the retreat to network with other Greek Leaders and participate in the weekend. Spring 2008 only.
  2. Officer Lists: Please update each semester by visiting the Fraternity & Sorority Affairs Website. For offices that are vacant for your chapter please put "N/A." Deadline for submission is February 15th and October 15th. These are used by our office, councils, university departments, alumni, and headquarters. You can do this at the same place you update your roster (see below).
  3. Grade Release Cards: Turn in Grade Release cards for all New Members/Associates for your organization by April 15th and November 15th. Bring cards (after entered in the online database) to our office.
  4. Roster Updates: Please update each semester by visiting the Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Web site. The Chapter President's NetID and University Identification Numbers (UIN) are needed (use the UIN from the grade release cards) used to enter the site. Deadline for submission is April 15th and November 15th. Information on how to update rosters can be found here. This process has been streamlined to help Certified Housing get the information they need as well. Please pay attention to this.
  5. Semesterly Meeting: We would like to meet with Chapter Presidents each semester at least once. This 30 minute meeting allows our office to provide one-on-one support to you and the organization, learn about chapters' goals and activities, and provide advice and guidance if wanted.
  6. Board of Fraternity/Sorority Hazing Statement: This is to be signed each semester. You will get notification of this. Due date for Spring 2007 will be February 15, 2007.
  7. Fire Factor: Each calendar year at least one member of chapters that have a certified house must attend the institute. The Spring 2007 program will be held on March 31, 2007. More information is available at www.firefactor.net.
  8. Attend Certified Housing Meetings: If you have a house that is considered certified housing a representative must attend these meetings. You will get notification on these as they are scheduled. Look for reminders in the Illini Greek.
  9. Read Email from our office, MOST NOTABLY The Illini Greek! The Illini Greek is a weekly update from our office that provides presidents, alumni, and advisors opportunities, deadlines, and reminders. We know you read it if you reply to at least one raffle question a semester.

Recommendations

  1. Consultants: We prefer to meet with the consultant while he/she is in town visiting from the (Inter)National organization. Please give us a few days notice when scheduling if at all possible.
  2. Regional & National Conferences: The (Inter)National conferences are held for a reason and can bring valuable information to the officers and the members. Let us know when you attend one of these.
  3. Follow Council Expectations: The councils host meetings, speakers and programs for a reason. They will choose how they want to enforce attendance – we highly encourage a chapter representative to be in attendance at all meetings.
