Mission
To provide constituents of the fraternity and sorority community at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign with local and national information to assist in the operations of dynamic fraternal organizations.
The Illini Greek is a communication vehicle compiled year-round by the Office of the Dean of Students/Greek Affairs. Information in The Illini Greek can include but is not limited to:
- Information on Fraternity and Sorority Community Events
- Information on Campus and Community Events
- Information on national and local conferences and events (mostly fraternity and sorority related)
- Information on National news related to fraternities and sororities
- Editorials, Opinion Columns, and Dialogue Opportunities* (written by Greek Affairs staff or other campus or national constituents)
- Resources to assist undergraduates and constituents in managing fraternities and sororities
- Information regarding services of local and national vendors**
* Some content may reflect the opinions of the Office of the Dean of Students/Greek Life and some may not. The Illini Greek should be viewed as a non-partisan newsletter that presents information on a wide range of events; however, the editor does reserve the right to include disclaimers regarding content as well as decline submissions should the content be questionable or in poor taste. All entries will be accepted on the basis of its perceived use by the members of the fraternity and sorority community.
** Information included in The Illini Greek is provided to assist chapters in knowing options of vendors or services. The Office of the Dean of Students and Fraternity and Sorority Affairs does not recommend use of vendors through this vehicle. All chapters are encouraged to explore a wide range of options when selecting vendors or making decisions regarding the purchase or use of products.
Guidelines for Articles and "Information Snippets"
Information snippets are defined as short updates related to programs, events, services or resources. These should not exceed 100 words.
The Illini Greek will never exceed two pages unless circumstances require it. This is at the discretion of the editor.
Any submissions for The Illini Greek are considered by the editor. It is at his discretion that the article will or will not be published. The editor reserves the right to edit content for space purposes.
Articles should not exceed 300 words and should include information relative to college students and fraternities and sororities.
Information snippets are defined as short updates related to programs, events, services or resources. These should not exceed 100 words.
Any articles or snippets should be submitted two weeks prior to the desired publication date. Any information provided less than two weeks before an edition may be considered but with no guarantees due to space.
