Women's Recruitment Workshop for COB
Women's Open Recruitment Workshop
What is Recruitment? Everything!
- Get to know your chapter — what are your selling points? What do you do DIFFERENTLY than other groups? Spend about 15
minutes on this. Good questions to ask include:
- What do we offer?
- What are we good at?
- What can we improve at?
- How could a potential member benefit us?
- Developing a priority plan — if we are focused on recruitment, then how does each of us invest ourselves in that focus?
Spend about 15 minutes on this. Good questions to ask include:
- What role can each of us play?
- What are our individual responsibilities?
- What are our collective responsibilities?
- Who do I know that would make a good member?
- How can we collectively recruit these individuals?
- Developing a recruitment plan — break chapter up into teams with a plan to attract the women that you want. Spend about a half hour on this. Break into teams by numbers (1-5). Brainstorm women you want in the chapter that you know. Identify three to five interests they have. Make a note card for each woman. As a team, create a recruitment plan for each person identifying who on the team would be the best person to recruit her (make sure they have the same interests or some similar interests). Collect all of your cards and post them on a large sheet of newsprint. Name your team (for example, "the Fabulous Phis"). Each team will take responsibility for recruiting the women they brainstormed. The first team to get all their women wins a prize (something like $50 off dues or something).
- Developing a marketing plan — how will you market your chapter for recruitment? Spend a half hour on this. This is very important and ties in well with the first one. OK. You have the names of women you want. You know what you are as an organization. How will you market this? Get into teams again and have each team brainstorm what they think the organization can do and who would be good at it. Determine your budget. Determine the locations you will market in.
