Greek Community Sprinkler Preparation Survey

In an effort to ensure fraternity and sorority housing continues to play an important role in meeting the housing needs to the university, we are soliciting information regarding your plans for sprinkler installation. Hopefully you are aware that in 2004 an ordinance was passed in Champaign that requires the installation of sprinklers by 2009. Visit Champaign sprinkler ordinance (pdf) for more information. While Urbana has not passed a similar ordinance yet, we are anticipating one will be passed in the next year with an installation date around 2009. Currently, a small group of alumni have begun having conversations about cooperative buying initiatives. This group is led by dedicated alumni committed to Greek Housing. Fraternity and Sorority Affairs is engaged as ex-officio members.
