Resume Critiques at the Corners
sponsored by The Career Center every Monday 3pm-5pm in conference room 211. Does your resume need updating? This is the place to come to!

La Casa Library Hours every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 3-4pm. Undergrad Librarian Emily Love will be available to help with Library online resources. She will also be available at the African American Cultural Center every 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 3-4pm.

The Counseling Center has office hours in La Casa's conference room 211 every Wednesdays from 3-4pm. Rene Monteagudo is available for scheduled appointments and/or walk-ins or if you just want to chat.

La Casa hosts MEET McKinley, the Health Resource Center on Thursdays 2-5pm on the second floor in conference room 211.  Medications and other things that help you stay healthy can be expensive, so take advantage of McKinley’s Health Resource Center.  For more information, check it out on the web: http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/

Campus and Community Announcements

Campus Recreation is conducting an onl-line survey to determine how they can better meet the needs of the community, specifically the Latino/Latina population. The information will be used to better prepare for the grand opening (projected Summer 2008.) of the renovation and expansion of the IMPE (Intramural-Physical Education) Building. You will have a chance to win a $25 Campus Rec gift certificate which can be used toward group fitness classes, intramurals, outdoor adventure clinics, and more! The U of I Latino/a Law Student Association (LLSA) would like to offer all Latino undergraduate students the opportunity to be paired up with a Latino law student mentor to see what law school is really like! If you would like to join the Latino/a law student mentor/mentee program, please email Anne Rubin at arubin@law.uiuc.edu.

Multicultural Congratulatory Smith Memorial Hall Auditorium December 15th, 2007, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Graduating in December? Did you complete your degree requirements this past summer?  Studying abroad or interning next semester and won’t be here for the May graduation ceremony?  In honor of December graduates, the Office of Minority Student Affairs coordinates the Multicultural Congratulatory for students from any program and degree level.  Participation fees this year amount to $15 per graduate and are due on Friday, December 7th, 2007 by 12:00 pm.  This fee includes a souvenir certificate and souvenir picture, but does not include cap & gown rental.  Please browse our website : http://www.omsa.uiuc.edu/annualevents/ or call 217-333-0054.  

"Boxes Full of Giving" Aspiring Latinos in Medicine Association is looking for your help in donating any clothes, shoes, and/or money to provide to Latino migrant workers in Rantoul. Clothes must be in good condition. Money donations will be used to buy things that cannot be reused, such as socks, under shirts, and underwear. They are mostly looking for long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes and coats for children and young adults, ages 2 through 18, and for adults, clothing sizes from small to extra large and shoe sizes from 5 -11. Winter items such as scarves, gloves and hats would be much appreciated. Many of these families are not use to the cold winters. Donations can be dropped off in the designated box located in the foyer of La Casa. For more information please contact Elaine Sanchez esanche2@uiuc.edu.

Campus Rec Exercise/Eating Disorder Campaign's mission is to supply helpful information on topics that range from nutrition topics to "What is your motivation?". They do this by placing posters throughout CRCE in high traffic areas that will grab the students attention. They need your help by joining their focus groups (not a large time commitment) to critique their previous posters and give them fresh, creative, and new ideas for the two new posters they will create this year.
