Stop Rape! Take CARE! Community Health (CHLH) 199B: Campus Acquaintance Rape Education Fall 2007, MW 3-4:30pm. Why is it difficult to speak out against rape? If the majority of perpetrators are men, why is it still seen as a "woman's problem"? Students acquire facilitation skills which allow them to work as peer educators with the CARE program. There are no prerequisites for this course. Men, LGBTQ students, students of color, and students with disabilities are encouraged to enroll. "Boxes Full of Giving" Aspiring Latinos in Medicine Association is looking for your help in donating any clothes, shoes, and/or money to provide to Latino migrant workers in Rantoul. Clothes must be in good condition. Money donations will be used to buy things that cannot be reused, such as socks, under shirts, and underwear. They are mostly looking for long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes and coats for children and young adults, ages 2 through 18, and for adults, clothing sizes from small to extra large and shoe sizes from 5 -11. Winter items such as scarves, gloves and hats would be much appreciated. Many of these families are not use to the cold winters. 4pm "The" 'Look' of Sovereignty" 192 Lincoln Hall. Dr. Frances Negron-Mutaner is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and scholar. The Young Lords of New York are one of the few, and perhaps the only, Puerto Rican political group to fully capture their city's imagination. In this talk, Frances Negrón-Muntaner argues that the Lords were able to accomplish this to a significant extent through what we can call the “sovereign look,” a new way of fashioning and choreographing the Puerto Rican body that communicated that Puerto Ricans were able and ready to be the protagonists of their political destiny.Born in Puerto Rico. Dr. Negron-Mutaner is an assistant professor in the Dept of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University.
