FIESTA 2007 Would you like to be part of the planning or perform in FIESTA? FIESTA 2007 will be in Greg Hall's auditorium on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Meetings will be held every other Wednesdays at La Casa. The next scheduled is on Wed., February 14 at 4pm at La Casa. For more information please call 333-4950.

Counseling Center Drop in Hours Geneva Reynaga-Abiko, Psy.D.is available at La Casa every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30-5pm for walk-in appointments.

La Casa hosts MEET McKinley, the Health Resource Center on Thursdays 2-5pm on the second floor in the Library room 204.  On a student budget? Urbana is Seeking Applicants for a Public Arts Task Force The City of Urbana is establishing a Public Arts Program and is seeking applicants to serve on a Public Arts Task Force.  The Task Force will make recommendations to City Council on a Public Arts Program and establishment of a Public Arts Commission to promote art -- in all its forms -- as an integral part of the civic environment. Diversity Conference The University of Wisconsin-Madison will be hosting the 2nd Annual Creating Institutional Change Conference on March 23-25, 2007.  The conference will be composed of sessions and activities focusing on: future initiatives regarding diversity on campuses; developing and encouraging leadership to improve campus climate for underrepresented populations; institutional racism; increasing campus awareness of different cultures and ethnicities; fostering better understanding of racial dynamics, gender behaviors, sexual orientation, and cross-cultural communication; and enhancing college student academic excellence.  The overall theme is to "Increase awareness, encourage leadership, and foster partnerships.”  For more information, please visit the conference website.

Join the Peer Recruitment Program (PRP) as part of the Office of Admissions and Records! The Illinois Leadership Center is seeing a large increase in the number of students enrolled in the Leadership Certificate program.  One of the most important requirements of the program is the Leadership Certificate student working with a Leadership Coach.  Due to the increase number of students enrolled in the program, the Leadership Center is in need of additional Leadership Coaches.  For more information about the Leadership Certificate program, contact contact Carol Bosley at cbosley@uiuc.edu. or go to http://www.illinoisleadership.uiuc.edu/leadership_center/leadership_certificate/default.asp.

ExCEL scholarships awards are designed to recognize students who are Exemplary, Committed, and Engaged Leaders (ExCEL) who will be of junior or senior standing and anticipate holding a major leadership role in a registered student organization during the 2007-2008 academic year,   Students must self nominate but will need one letter of reference.  Scholarship descriptions and the application form can be accessed online at  www.vcsa.uiuc.edu/leaders/SLas/ under ExCEL Scholarships. Nominations and applications must be received by noon on Friday, February 16.  

Kevin T. Early Memorial Scholarship
for incoming freshmen students at UIUC for the 2006-07 school year and who has demonstrated an aptitude for and a skill in writing poetry. Rules: Students should submit no more than 5 poems and the total

Google Hispanic College Fund Scholarship Program - Students must come from an Hispanic background be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Juniors, Seniors, Masters or PHD) be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident demonstrate financial need have a GPA of 3.5 or higher be enrolled in a full time program of study of Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Application can be found at www.hispanicfund.org. Application deadline is March 15, 2007.

Kaiser Permanente College to Caring Program - Students must come from an Hispanic background, be a Junior or Senior in college be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident reside in Northern California demonstrate financial need have a GPA of 3.0 or higher be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Application can be found at www.hispanicfund.org. Application deadline is March 15, 2007.

Costco Pharmacy Scholar Program Application deadline on March 15, 2007 Students must be pursuing a degree in Pharmacy, come from an Hispanic background, be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, demonstrate financial need, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, have completed one-year of pharmacy school or are in their second year into their pharmacy education. Application can be found at www.hispanicfund.org. Application deadline is March 15, 2007.
