La Casa Alliance of Student Organizations (LCASO)
Registered Student Organizations are invited to join LCASO — an informal group of RSO representatives which meets with La Casa staff members once a month. The goals of LCASO are to promote the integration of the Latina/o community through collaboration of Latina/o-focused and multicultural RSOs with campus and community programs; to enrich the cultural landscape; and to promote the achievement and development of individuals, organizations and the community at large. LCASO representatives attend monthly meetings and serve as links between LCASO and their respective RSOs.
How to Join
If your organization would like to join LCASO, please contact Adele Lozano. Each RSO will choose one representative to attend monthly meetings. The representative chosen does not have to be an officer, but should be an active RSO member who can share accurate information about events and report back to the RSO regarding important information from LCASO meetings.
Participation in LCASO will provide great benefits for your organization, including:
- keeping informed of resources and opportunities for co-sponsorship with La Casa, RSOs, and community programs
- promoting your events to other RSO's for greater community impact and participation
- promoting program collaboration rather than duplication
- working on annual events like Fiesta, the Latino Congratulatory Committee, and Latina/o Month
- maintaining strong ties and a cohesive bond within the U of I Latino community
- having a forum from which to voice opinions, especially regarding issues affecting the Latino community
- sharing concerns/suggestions about La Casa Cultural Latina with the staff
- learning leadership and motivational skills to keep your organization strong
- planning and implementing programs and co-sponsorships in a timely fashion
