Volume I, Black History Month
It is unfortunate that the beginning of Black History Month be marked by the recent loss of Coretta Scott King. Ms King was a true ally to the LGBT community. Let us honor her legacy and memory by supporting the campus events and activities that mark the history and continued accomplishments of the African-American community locally and nationwide.
Although this year's opening ceremonies had been planned to tribute Ms. King's fellow civil rights pioneer, Rosa Parks, we can be guided by the memory of both women and each of their messages of equity and justice for all communities.
