Volume I, Day of Silence (DoS)

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

The Day of Silence is a nationwide event designed to protest the silence and oppression that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people face and to offer a plan of action toward ending this silence and oppression. On the Day of Silence, participants protest discrimination against the LGBTQ community by not speaking and handing out cards explaining their decision to remain silent to people they encounter throughout the day. At 5:00 pm on the Quad's Plaza just south of the Illini Union, participants gather at a rally to break their silence with featured speakers. As Allies and Co-Sponsors please join us in observing the day.

How to Observe the Day of Silence

Co-Sponsors are welcomed to bring your organization's publicity and distribute on the DoS Table on the Quad and are welcomed to make announcements during the "Open Mic" at the Rally.

The Day of Silence wouldn't be possible without your support and we send our sincere thanks.
