Why is there a charge for this program?
This charge is for the Spring Information website, Registration Program (overhead expenses including meals, orientation staff, publications, facilities, technical support, and supplies) and Fall Orientation sessions in August (Welcome Week Events).

What if I don't want the lunch when I come to Registration?
Lunch is included in the Registration charge for both students and parents. Waivers will not be granted.

Do I have to attend the Registration Program?
Yes. The Registration Program is mandatory for every incoming undergraduate student.

Can I just register for classes through my adviser?
No. You must attend the entire program in order to register for classes. There are sessions/meetings that your adviser requires you attend before registering for classes. Missing any portion of your Registration Program will require you to re-schedule for another program.

How can I change my Registration Program date?
To see if other programs are still open for your College and Curriculum, please revisit www.istart.uiuc.edu. If programs are still available, you may simply re-schedule online.

I entered all my student and parent/guest information online for my Registration Program. May I pay for our participation in advance?
Yes. As you confirm your reservation online, you may pay with MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or American Express. If you choose not to pay online with a credit card, the student's University account will be billed for the total amount due on the student's first statement. Please have parent/guest names, all lunch choices, and credit card information ready when confirming online.

My parents came to Registration last year. Do they need to attend Registration again?
In many ways it will be similar, however, the university is continually changing and the most current information will be provided. One-third of our incoming students attend on their own. We recommend students and parents discuss how comfortable the student might feel about attending independently. While Registration is mandatory for all students, it is optional for parents.
