Verdell Frazier Young Awards

You may qualify for a financial award through the Office of Women’s Programs of up to $1,000 for the spring 2008 semester.
Financial Assistance for Women Students at the U of I
The Verdell Frazier Young Awards are intended to assist and encourage women in completing their formal education. Applicants must be enrolled at the U of I full or part-time, working toward a degree(s), and have had an interruption of at least one year in their education, with priority giving to those women who have been out of school for two or more years.
Eligibility and Guidelines
- Awards are determined based on the educational disruption, length and circumstances. There must be at least one year interruption in the educational process with priority given to applicants with a two or more year interruption. The interruption can occur at any point in the educational career.
- Priority for awards will be given to undergraduate students first.
- All continuing students must have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75.
- Students will be eligible for the awards no more than 2 semesters per degree (not including summer terms).
- All students who are U.S. residents must file a FAFSA application.
- Financial criteria will help to determine need for awards and the amount of the award.
- A fully completed application and interview (new applicants) will be required for all applicants.
- Students must be enrolled at the U of I during the award period. Enrollment may be full or part time.

- Attach a transcript or grade report and submit the application package to the above address by December 31, 2007 at 5:00 pm.
- If you are a first time applicant a short interview will be required. You will be notified by the office to schedule the interview.
